10 Ways to Refresh Yourself When the Job is Rough

Are you burning out, is your job demanding too much, or is your life (Not work) hitting a rough patch. Here are 10 things to try, or remind yourself of that can bring you peace and focus

  1. Breathe and take moment; clarity will follow
    • Sometimes you need to stop listening to yourself
  2. Do something for someone other than yourself
    • This may can be simple acts of kindness, or donating your time at a shelter
  3. Take it easy on yourself
    • Remember to go easy on yourself – you are your own worst critic
  4. Take a daily walk and mix it up with distractions
    • Pay attention to the scenery, Walk a dog (if you have one), listen to music, and maybe even sing out loud
  5. Get some outside inspiration
    • Read fiction and non fiction fiction books, and spend time learning new skills, even if they are on the fringe of your work
  6. Spend time out doors, away from other people
    • Serious, no screen time just by yourself, so no one will interrupt you when you talk to yourself
  7. Find your Tribe of Mentors
    • Find people who inspire you professionally, and listen and read them
  8. Don’t hate me, but… Wash the dishes
    • This chore is one of the most straightforward mindfulness exercise you can perform.
  9. Ask for help, because people have been where you are
    • Gather a small group of people who will be honest, straight, and kind with you
